I was lucky enough to visit Venn Brewing during their soft opening (because beer people are cool AF and let me crash their parties).
The taproom is located in a ridiculously convenient area—right on Hiawatha and 46th, which is also a Light Rail stop. The interior features an expansive bar and an enormous display of the line art fox logo.
Connie Cisco, one of the pair of Ciscos behind the brewery, told me the beer is meant to represent four major brewery regions: Germany, UK, Belgium, and the US.
My flight included:
- Citra Mosaic IPA (7.5% ABV, 80 IBU)
- Black Lager (5.3%, 22)
- Petite Saison (4.9%, 24)
- Blood Orange Witbier (4.9%, 18)
- Raspberry Sour (5%, 1)
While I had Connie’s attention, I asked her for a bit of life advice. She told me, “Try to enjoy every day, and find out what that means for you—and do it with friends!”
For Connie and her husband, Kyle, that means they enjoy a couple beers together regularly. While that might not be the source of happiness for everyone, it is for these new brewery owners. Plus, now that they brew and sell beer, they can do that with friends.
