Rounding out my 5-day, 5-brewery road trip, I ended in Moose Lake. The town of 2,800 is just off I-35 and is tucked into the lake. The taproom itself offers a view of the water, which is enough to put me right at home.
I enjoyed a Stout (6%), IPA (7.5% ABV, 64 IBU), EPA (5.25% ABV, 35 IBU), and Blonde (5.25% ABV). The whole lineup was impressive, and the easy atmosphere made my transition back home far easier. The EPA was a personal favorite, rounded-out with a satisfying balance of malt strength and light, pleasant, hop characteristics.
My beertender gave it to me real. She advised me, “Be true to yourself; don’t let anyone buffalo you. Then you can take care of yourself at any age.” I’m not sure if she offered this specifically woman-to-woman, but I think this wisdom is often bestowed upon people in my position. When it was once have a separate bank account, it’s now about making choices, taking stands, and having a backbone.
Well, we don’t have to worry about that one.
