After an afternoon of Black Friday shopping, there was nothing I needed more than a burger and a beer. Cue Birch’s On The Lake. Upon entering the brewery, I promptly stuffed myself with a thick burger and an American IPA, which was fresh hopped with simcoe and mosaic hops (ABV 6.8%).
Below the bar, a sunken dining space looks through the trees and out over Long Lake. Low lights and an open brew space invite you to settle in to your beer, and the french fries top it all off.
My advice came from our server, Natalie, who told me, “Don’t overreact before you know what’s going to happen.” She shared an example about waiting for medical test results, but this advice spans situations and time. Anxiety regarding future events, over outcomes we cannot control, is a self-inflicted injury. While reigning in reactions and anxiety takes practice, the patience you develop makes handling the outcome far easier.
